The presentation showcases the power of TAFE Centres of Excellence to support training development in new and emerging industries.

Developing training in a new industry comes with a multitude of challenges, from developing the qualification in the training package all the way through to setting up the practical learning resources in the training facility. New technologies are being introduced at pace while the frameworks to support skill development do not develop as quickly. Apprenticeship programs add another layer of complexity with scoping, funding and supervision requirements.

The presentation will take the audience on the journey of how CIT supported development of the new electric vehicle qualification through to the TAFE Centre of Excellence supporting TAFEs around the country to build their own delivery, fit out their workshops and train their Educators. The power of TAFE collaboration with Jobs and Skills Council and industry partners will be showcased at every step of the journey, highlighting the importance of nurturing relationships with stakeholders.

The presenters will discuss opportunities for national collaboration in a new industry, supporting workforce development across the nation and leveraging expertise from across the TAFE network. The TAFE Directors Australia working groups will be discussed, as an important mechanism to bring subject matter experts together to connect with each other and hear the latest insights from industry and lessons learned from the leading training provider.
