Richard Lindsay

Richard Lindsay is the Industry and Training Manager for the Electric Vehicle TAFE Centre of Excellence (EVCOE) at the Canberra Institute of Technology, leading national efforts to strengthen TAFE capability in electric vehicle education and workforce development under the National Skills Agreement. With over 27 years’ experience across the automotive and vocational education and training (VET) sectors, Richard has played a key role in shaping Australia’s response to emerging skills needs in the transition to low-emissions transport. He led the development and national implementation of Australia’s first Certificate III in Automotive Electric Vehicle Technology apprenticeship and continues to drive collaboration across jurisdictions to support consistent, high-quality training delivery. Richard works closely with TAFE leaders, Jobs and Skills Councils, industry, and government stakeholders to align training products with workforce demand, improve system responsiveness, and accelerate the adoption of new technologies. In 2022, he was recognised as Australian VET Teacher/Trainer of the Year for his innovation in training design and delivery.
